About StarAtlas
This web app scratches a personal itch I've had since I got a telescope as a kid. Although I liked the telescope, I really fell for the included star atlas. It had a planisphere on the cover to show you what was visible at any time, and had pretty good charts and descriptions of what you could see with a small scope. That atlas was a map of the universe, I could hold it in my hands, and it didn't require freezing to death outside or fighting clouds of blood-thirsty mosquitos.
StarAtlas is my attempt to recreate the same Feeling of Awesomeness on a computer. Although I'm still working on it, especially the star charts, I want to share what I have working so far. Hope you find it interesting and useful. Keep checking back to see what's new.
